Wedding Music-Book A Band or DJ?

Booking Bands or DJs – Which Is a Better Idea for Wedding Music?

There are many decisions you have to make as you prepare for your wedding day and one of them is concerning the kind of wedding music that you have to organize. Most weddings feature a lot of music because this helps set the mood for the event and gets people to relax and enjoy themselves. As a matter of fact, it is simply unthinkable of a marriage ceremony taking place without any sort of musical accompaniment whatsoever.

You will have to make quite a few decisions with regards to the music that will be played on your big day. One of the most important ones is whether you need to book a band or a DJ to provide the wedding music. Both options are immensely popular these days and each one has its own advantages and disadvantages.

What most experienced wedding planners feel is that you cannot really do without one or the other because each has its own role to play. Most people feel that a live band is essential for wedding music because it can play the kind of music that goes best with the occasion. Not only will the band be able to provide music for the main ceremony and the events leading up to it but it can also play dance music to keep guests entertained during the reception.

At the same time, DJs are in great demand if there is going to be a lot of dancing because they can play the kind of music that gets guests onto the dance floor. You might try to make do with recorded music from your iPod but this is not a good idea because you can't mix tracks right on the spot. In addition, it becomes very difficult to play requests if you are not experienced in doing this. Keep in mind that your guests will get bored or entertained for the wrong reasons if music is played ineptly.

The other aspect to be considered is the cost. Since the band plays all sorts of wedding music and the DJ is mostly required only for the reception, you'll need to see if your budget permits hiring a DJ as well. In addition, it might not be a good idea to hire a DJ if there is very little time for dancing because you will then not get value for money.

Whether you finally hire a wedding band or a DJ depends entirely upon your preference as well as your budget. It will be a good idea for you to plan everything carefully so that your guests have the best time possible. Visit a few weddings so that you can study exactly what other people are doing. It is also a good idea to speak to other people who have booked bands for wedding music recently so that you figure out which option will work best for you. You will then be very happy with the arrangements made for your big day since your family and friends will have a very enjoyable time.
